DEVELOPMENT OF A CO-EXTRUDED Al-Ti BIMETAL COMPOSITE

This study enhances the strength of Al6061 alloy by adding Ti in form a rod using thermomechanical process, which would be useful making structures for aerospace and structural members. Two different properties material are joined together to new bimetallic material. Softer Al-6061 is used as sleeve, grade-II core. They were prepared with co-extrusion process at temperature 400 °C ratios 2:1 2:0.5. The substrates analysed characterization, hardness, tensile strength, corrosion. development diffusion layer observed boundary Al-Ti material, bonding improved. Compared an aluminium bimetal composite, co-extruded ratio 2:0.5 composite shows better microstructure, mechanical, tribological properties. It concluded that Al efficient way devise composites mechanical 14% 19%, respectively.
